Securus Technologies, the country’s leading provider of inmate communications services, has made it to the final round of the 2017 Stevie Awards. They’ve been selected over thousands of other companies for their excellence in business and customer service. This marks an important milestone for a company which has seen its star slowly rise over the last decade. In a statement at the awards ceremony, Securus executive Danny De Hoyos restated Securus’ commitment to continue its excellent track record of customer service and its dedication to developing innovative new technologies.
Game changing technologies for both inmates and officers
Securus has spent much of the last two years getting the word out about its innovative video visitation system and the numerous advantages it has to inmates. However, as successful as this effort has been, once installed, the largest beneficiary of the system often turn out to be the institution itself.
Since implementing the system at prisons across the country, it has become clear to guards and administrators that cheap video visitations keep inmates in a much happier, more serene frame of mind. This quickly and directly translates into reductions in disciplinary problems like fights, contraband and rules infractions.
This reduction is due to two primary causes. The first is that the ability to conduct video visitations on a daily basis with friends and family itself becomes a cherished privilege for inmates. This is a powerful motivator for inmates who would otherwise be tempted to stray from pro-social, compliant activities because the prospect of losing their ability to talk to their family looms ominous over their heads.
The second reason is that prisoners who stay in touch with family members are just all-around happier. This directly reduces the number of despondent, violent inmates and makes prisons much safer environments. Through its many products, Securus continues to deliver real value to all of its customers.
