The Department of Energy estimates that approximately 86 percent of homes in America use air-conditioning. This is especially good news for air-conditioning and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning) firms like Goettl Air Conditioning. Since beginning its operations in 1939, Goettl has become a central feature of Arizona’s business landscape.

 

Goettl Air Conditioning achieved international acclaim by pioneering the mass production of innovative heating and cooling technology, such as evaporative coolers. Goettl even held over 100 patents at one point. However, the company was struggling through high losses, minimal profits, and low employee morale by 2013. When Ken Goodrich bought Goettl in that year, he acquired a broken business.

 

Goodrich had specialized in buying failing companies and turning them around. In fact, he had already successfully done so with 15 companies before acquiring Goettl. However, the new enterprise offered some unique challenges that Goodrich had not faced before. These included legal issues arising from the business practices of Goettl’s former owners as well as the resulting poor public perception and consumer confidence.

 

Today, Goettl is well on its way to reclaiming its former glory. Ken Goodrich is a major reason for this turnabout. He utilized old-fashioned solutions to deal with the core problem. First, Goodrich began by focusing on customer satisfaction and building up employee morale.

 

Workers at Goettl started seeing their expertise incorporated into customer care and other business practices. Under Goodrich’s leadership, the company also began running charitable drive to get involved with the surrounding community. This has so far included providing water to the homeless during summer months, contributing to veterans’ initiatives, and installing free air-conditioning units for the elderly.

 

The positive inflow of support was critical in rebuilding employee morale. This has led to higher productivity improved customer satisfaction. This approach has been so successful that Goettl has grown by more than 500 percent since Goodrich took over. The company has now expanded to open offices in Las Vegas, Tucson, and South Caroline. Furthermore, Goettl reported more than 50 million dollars in revenue by the close of 2016.
