Dr. Shafik Sachedina is the epitome of success though hard work. Born in 1950 Dr. Sachedina began his life in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. In 1975 his hard work paid off and he qualified as a dental surgeon from guy’s hospital medical and dental school. From there he went on to practice in England for a long time, during which his interest in entrepreneurial endeavors rose.
Dr.Sachedina believes in the power of community so when an opportunity to volunteer with the Afa Khan and Jamiti institutions became available he was more than happy to take on the role. He became a member of the Institutes’s board of Governors. Additionally, he fulfills many other roles in his community such as being a member of the Aga Khan Development Network Committee, Chairman of FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance International Coordinating Committee and finally, he fills the role of the Ismaili Leader’s International Forum. In the past, he as also donated his time to such roles as the President of the Ismaili Council for the United Kingdom.

In one of his current roles with Sussex Health Care Company, Dr. Shafik Sachedina continues pursuing his passion for serving the community. This organization’s goals revolve around ensuring the best care for the community through outreach. They Focus on providing care to homes in addition to various support services based in Sussex County located in South England. They have been filling this role in the area for over 25 years. Their approach is all-encompassing, with a focus on the benefits of leisure and recreational activities are excellent supporters of good health. Sussex Health Car makes sure to have plenty of activities in every home they run. They also make it a priority to match individuals with an activity based on their previous activity as well as their interests.
In addition to his work with Sussex Health Care Dr. Sachedina serves as head of the Jamati Institutions at the Secretariat of His Highness the Aga Khan at Aiglemont in France. His role as head of the Jamati Institutions is one of his most demanding roles yet. However, he fulfills his duties with joy as this position offers him even more opportunity to serve his community. Dr. Sachedina is expected to coordinate the activities and various programmes of the Ismaili community’s institutions throughout the 16 principal areas where these institutions are located. Additionally, he fills a critical role by interfacing with the Aga Khan Development Network Programmes and Institutions of the Ismaili Communities of Central Asia.
